Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning

DePino Associates was hired by the Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning to help them build a coalition in Fairfield County to stop the Federal Aviation Administration from continuing their plans to amend flight routes to fly overhead of Southwestern Connecticut. DePino Associates worked with the leaders of the Alliance to collect letters from community leaders addressed to Senator Dodd, Senator Lieberman, and Congressman Shays. DePino Associates also helped Senator Duff pass a proposed resolution through the Connecticut General Assembly to support the Alliance in their efforts. DePino Associates was able to help members of the Alliance testify during the public hearing at the state capital, as well as invite the media to interview leaders of the Alliance about the campaign.

DePino Associates also organized a Town Hall event in April 2008 for the Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning. The Town Hall event included Congressman Shays, Attorney General Blumenthal (now Senator Blumenthal), representatives from Senator Dodd and Senator Lieberman’s D.C. offices, a representative from the Governor’s office, Senator McKinney, Representative Cafero, and many other community leaders. The Town Hall event was an opportunity for members of the community to gather and learn more about the campaign as well as discover how the F.A.A.’s airspace redesign plan would affect their everyday lives. DePino Associates worked on this campaign for several months and was successful in making this campaign a priority for Senator Dodd and Senator Lieberman who changed their positions and announced their support during the Town Hall Event. DePino Associates worked with members of the Alliance and was successful in drawing national attention to their concerns.
