In 2009 DePino Associates worked with the Connecticut Association for Home Care and Hospice developing a successful grassroots campaign demonstrating the need to increase Medicaid reimbursement rates.
DePino Associates contacted 75 different association members requesting that they reach out to their legislators through a letter writing campaign. Over 350 letters were sent to legislators across the state, detailing the need for increased Medicaid reimbursement rates for the association members. These letters were personalized for each agency, and targeted to the legislators representing the service area for that agency. DePino Associates facilitated meetings for association members with legislators and state leaders, including the Lt. Governor and representatives in the Office of Fiscal Analysis.
Due to budget constrains the Medicaid reimbursement rates were not ultimately increased, but we were successfully in avoiding any cuts to the reimbursement rates, while many other programs were cut.
